Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! 2018. Wow, we made it!

I’m dusting off this blog. Man, oh man, were the bunnies thick.

Let’s pretend we’ve never met.

I am 54 years old, have two boys, two cats, a dog, and the best, big sister in the whole, wide world. Seriously, she’s amazing. I work part-time scooping horse shit and doing maintenance for an equine hospital one mile from my house. (I need a t-shirt that reads, “I’ve got a shitty job,” which is funny cause it’s literal.) I’m single, and don’t see that changing, which is fine with me. I am smart, independent, and the funniest person I know. I also sing super good especially after a few glasses of box wine. Hey, I just wrote my Match.com profile.

My life is good, really good. Maybe better than it’s ever been. Who else can say that?

It could have turned out worse, a lot worst, and things have been bleak from time to time. My choices haven’t been all glitter and rainbows. Oh, there’s been some shiny shit, don’t get me wrong. What hedonist doesn’t like something sparkly and instantly gratifying? But I’ve become a better person, and a morning person, much to my surprise. I don’t think the two are related, but it might be the coffee.

I started writing with purpose a few years ago. I’ve completed drafts of two out of five books in a young adult fantasy series. A dozen of my flash fiction pieces have been published. I even got paid for one of them, so I’m well on my way to a book deal. Last year I published a collection of horror flash fiction last year called Sanity’s Threshold, Slivers of a Twister Mind. Still available on Amazon.

My work-in-progress is a novel, The Contraption. It’s dystopian and deals with conversion therapy and the oppression of the poor. First draft is done, and preliminary feedback is positive. Go me!

There you go. Me in 300 words. Are you a fan yet?

  4. I stopped by because I’m also a morning person and you brightened my morning by stopping by and liking Darq’s Island New Year post (at my Jewels of the Sky blog https://jewelsofthesky.wordpress.com/). I also have two cats (coal black ones), and a companion dog (all of 12 lbs. of a dust mop with four legs and a waggley tail). My husband and I retired and no longer have Morgan horses, but I’d rather shovel horse s**t than the snow that blankets everything outside. Then again, all that white was lovely by last night’s moonlight.

I wish you the most wonderful of New Year’s days, Angela, and all the best with your writing and successful editing of The Contraption.
